A family of 3 involved in a vehicle crash in Onslow County has resulted in 2 of those people being airlifted to area hospitals.
Troopers said the crash happened around 11:32 a.m. on Gum Branch Road just before Cow Horn Road.
Officials said that 48-year-old Lawrence Kruger of Jacksonville was heading south when he ran off the road to the right, over corrected and ended up crashing into a tree on the opposite side of the road.
Troopers said Kruger’s 53-year-old sister, Debra, and their 80-year-old mother, Ellen, were severely injured.
Officials said Debra Kruger was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. Nursing officials could not provide an update on her condition.
Ellen Kruger was been airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, according to troopers. Nursing officials at Vidant said she was in fair condition early Monday morning.
The driver, Lawrence Kruger, was not injured.
There are no charges at this time.
