A tractor trailer fire closed a major highway in Onslow County.
U.S. 258/Highway 24, west of Jacksonville, was shut down for more than four hours this morning.
The 18-wheeler was full of furniture headed to Camp Lejeune.
Authorities say the fire began at the rear axle of the cab and spread to the trailer. The fire appears to have started by the brakes on the truck.
Troopers estimate the damage at around $150,000.
The driver, Victoria Bradshaw of Dunn, was sent to the hospital with injuries. Troopers say she called 911 and then tired to put out the fire herself. She injured her left hand and was complaining of lower back pain.
Firefighters spent hours pulling out the furniture and then hosing down hot spots in the trailer.
