Three people, including a baby, went to the hospital after a head-on crash happened at lunchtime Thursday. One of those vehicles caught fire.
The accident happened just after noon on Highway 17 and Halltown Road, north of Jacksonville.
Troopers charged 21-year-old Justin Jenkins of Jacksonville with failure to yield after they say the man's vehicle made a left turn in the path of an oncoming car.
Jenkins was able to get out of his vehicle which caught fire. Two adults and a baby were in the other vehicle. All three people in the second vehicle were taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Highway Patrol says Jenkins's view was obstructed by a log truck waiting to turn too, but the man turned anyway.
