Officials say rain and melting snow caused a wastewater spill in Richlands, at least the 3rd spill reported at the plant in the last six-months.
The Onslow Water and Sewer Authority says about 10,000 gallons of partially treated wastewater spilled at the wastewater treatment plant in Richlands Thursday.
Officials say the wastewater that was spilled was about 80-percent treated.
The same site had spills in January of this year and August of 2013.
ONWASA says they are investigating the situation and will file a report with the NC Division of Water Quality in the next few days.
