The Department of Transportation in Onslow County had crews near Richlands Monday taking precautions to prevent flooding on Haw Branch Road.
Residents say water gathers on the road as deep as ten inches. DOT says it happens anytime there is a lot of rain in a short amount of time, so crews created ditches to help direct the flow of water-- to prevent dangerous pooling of water if we have severe storms in the next few days.
The DOT says it will also install a new cross pipe in the coming months to help alleviate the drainage problem.
