Troopers said a Richlands man fell asleep at the wheel on his way home from work before dawn, hitting a power pole along Highway 258.
Trooper Thomas McCoy said part of 258 near Pony Farm Road was shut down for nearly two hours around 4:30 a.m. after 40-year-old Ricky Heckard hit a power pole.
Trp. McCoy said the Richlands man was on his way home from work and apparently fell asleep at the wheel, hitting the pole then knocking it down.
Heckard was not hurt, according to Trp. McCoy, and is now facing a reckless driving charge.
There were no other injuries reported from the wreck and no major power outages reported. Power crews were able to fix the pole, according to Trp. McCoy.
Highway 258 was back open to traffic by 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
