The Highway Patrol has released the name of the man killed in a moped wreck Sunday night in Onslow County.
First Sergeant David Oglesby said Felix Cruz of Jacksonville was riding a moped south-bound on Highway 17, a mile north of Holly Ridge.
Cruz crossed three lanes along the 5-lane highway, according to investigators.
First Sgt. Oglesby said the moped hit a mini--van going the opposite direction head-on, and that moped rider was thrown from his vehicle.
Investigators said once Cruz landed in the south-bound lane, he was run over by 24-year-old Sydney Wilson of Accomac, Virginia.
The 26-year-old man was killed. Troopers said Arthur Potter of Hampstead, the man who collided with the moped head-on, had some pain but was not taken to the hospital. Wilson was not injured.
Troopers said no charges are pending for either of the vehicle drivers.
