Senate To Hear About Camp Lejeune Contaminated Water

A retired Marine who has led the fight to hold the military accountable for contaminated drinking water at Camp Lejeune will testify before a U.S. Senate committee about efforts to block information.

Retired Master Sgt. Jerry Ensminger will testify Tuesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Ensminger's daughter was 9 years old when she died of leukemia in 1985.

Ensminger will discuss the Marine Corps' request that the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry black out information about the location of water systems from its scientific reports due out later this year.

Health officials think as many as 1 million people may have been exposed to tainted water before the wells were closed more than 20 years ago.

Hats off to the Master Sergeant for pursuing the issue. My wife, me, and daughter all have been exposed and are now suffering the consequences (cancer, heart disease, to name a few illnesses. Many of our friends from Jacksonville are now deceased and lived in Tarawa Terrace during the timeframe alluded to. I am not holding my breath for the government to take action.

I agree Mike. I want to see the documentary. The sad thing is most of the public doesn't care unless they are on the short end of the stick.
