After a unanimous vote, some Sneads Ferry property owners in Onslow County can finally start plans for their RV Park, but residents in nearby neighborhoods aren't happy.

Tuesday night the zoning board of adjustment held a meeting in Jacksonville to hear both sides of the argument. The property owners say their land meets all regulations and requirements, but neighbors are worried that an RV park being close by could ruin the values of their homes.

"I built my house ten years ago. I want to protect the value of my house, as do all the other citizens that we had sign the petition there. So we feel that this is not going to be conducive to us being able to sell our house in the future.," said resident John Meeting.

The board voted 5 to 0 in favor of the park. The adjacent homeowners still have the option of appealing to Onslow County Superior Court.

Two neighborhoods in Sneads Ferry are coming together after learning the view from their backyards could be that of an RV park.

Neighbors say a local family that owns undeveloped land off Bill Canady road in Sneads Ferry, wants to get a special permit to put an RV park on the eleven acres of land.

Residents of Escoba Bay and Canady Landing would be affected if the permit is granted. They fear their property values would be adversely affected.

The county says the proposed park must not substantially injure the property value of those nearby or endanger the public's health or safety.

Despite those requirements, neighbors are still worried.

We reached out to the property owners who have requested the
permit, however they did not return our emails or calls.
