Police say proactive patrols netted a man who is accused of breaking into several businesses early Thursday morning.
Dominique Hooks is charged with three counts of breaking and entering and felony larceny.
Jacksonville police say around 12:15 a.m. they responded to an alarm at the Bargain Shop on Bell Fork Road. They found the glass front door had been shattered.
Police say their investigation showed that a man carrying a duffel bag had thrown a brick through the front door, went inside and left with electronics equipment.
Two hours later, officers responded to another alarm at Carolina Cash Exchange on Onslow Drive. They found its front glass door was cracked after someone hit it with a brick. The business was not entered.
Officers began canvassing the area and saw a man in front of Yesterday's Thrift Store in the Northwoods Shopping Center trying to break in that business with a brick. The 21-year-old Hooks was arrested and police say they were able to recover stolen property from the initial break-in.
Hooks' bond was set at $11,000.
