Police say a bicyclist is still in the hospital a day after being hit by a car along a popular Jacksonville Road.
Jacksonville police spokeswoman Beth Purcell said around 6 a.m. on Monday, a bicyclist did not yield the right of way along Bell Fork Road.
Purcell said Chad Martin was hit by a Nissan Altima and then thrown from the bike.
Officers said the driver of the car stopped to help the bicyclist and called 911 for help.
Martin was taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital in critical condition. He is now in serious condition at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Speed and alcohol were not factors, according to police.
No word on any charges yet in this case.
