Onslow County Vehicle Arson

Someone torched a vehicle in Onslow County overnight, say lawmen.

Sheriff Ed Brown tells WITN between midnight and daybreak, a vehicle was set on fire off Highway 50 between Maple Hill and Holly Ridge.

No one was in the vehicle at the time of the fire. The vehicle has been moved to a garage for further inspection.

No word on any suspects.

This use to happen a lot, years ago. An easy way to get out of paying for a lemon you don't want anymore. I don't know if they changed the laws about stolen/burned up cars. Maybe it's not so easy now, what with all the forensics and other evidence gathering techniques they have nowadays.

This is likened to receiving a wrapped "dead fish" in your store.
