The NC Highway Patrol says a man faces numerous charges after backing into an Onslow County Sheriff Deputy's cruiser after hitting two other vehicles and driving away.
Troopers say 58-year-old Arkie Hines of Hinestown road is charged with hit and run, driving with a revoked license, reckless driving and DWI. They say tests will have to determine what he was impaired by, but say it wasn't alcohol.
Troopers say Hines hit two vehicles and kept going. The deputy pulled up behind him at the intersection of Hwy 258 and Hines Farm Road. That's when they say Hines backed up and hit the cruiser. He was then taken into custody. The cruiser was only slightly damaged.
There were no injuries but troopers say Hines is in the hospital for evaluation.
