An investigation is underway after a horse was shot and killed Friday night in Onslow County.
According to Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown, the horse belonged to Jerry and Sammie Shepard of J & S Stables. They live in Sneads Ferry.
Deputies now say they have a person of special interest in the case.
Sammie Shepard tells WITN the horse's name was Bo and they had him for 14 years. She says she is extremely upset and hopes deputies are able to find the person that did this.
According to Shepard, Bo was out in the pasture and she believes the horse may have been shot between the time of 7:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.
Onslow County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,500 dollars for information leading to an arrest.
The Shepards are offering an addition reward of $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
