We're getting closer to the one year anniversary of deadly tornadoes tearing through the east. We've seen communities rebuild, and people heal, including a toddler hurt during the storms. Tuesday morning, we saw Evan Salerno at the I HOP on Western Boulevard in Jacksonville.

Right after the tornadoes last April, WITN spoke to Evan's family at the hospital. The 23-month-old had been ripped from his mother's arms in the storm and found under a pile of debris aboard Camp Lejeune. Feeling like a normal kid now, Tuesday he was helping others recover and get healthy by raising money for the the hospital that helped him heal. Donors at IHOPS Children's Miracle Network fundraiser said Evan's did a great job asking for donations.

"It's a good way to put a face to... there are children, local here in the Jacksonville area that are getting help, and our money does help," said Quintina Pearson who attended the pancake fundraiser.

Children's Miracle Network is close to our hearts at WITN. you can catch the telethon for the charity the first weekend of June on WITN.
