A 21-year-old Camp Lejeune Marine is due to face a judge Thursday morning, accused of intentionally hurting a child.
According to online court records, Zachary Hawkins will appear in court, charged with two felony counts of intentional child abuse.
Sheriff Ed Brown said Hawkins was arrested by deputies on those charges Wednesday evening.
Officials at Camp Lejeune said the 21-year-old is a Corporal, currently working at II MEF Headquarters at Lejeuene.
A Lejeune spokesman said the Corps is fully cooperating with the civilian authorities as the investigation continues, but had no further information on Hawkins' case.
