The Onslow County Animal Shelter is having a sale on their cats and dogs after a fire brought 28 new pets to the facilty. They were rescued from a burning Maysville home.
Officials say the homeowner was sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Animal control officers and firefighters were left to get the cats and dogs out safely.
Investigators say the homeowner was pet sitting 20 of the 26 dogs. While 20 pups got to go back home, the pet sitting operation is under investigation to see if it is legal.
Since the sale started Friday, 34 pets were adopted.
Right now a spayed or neutered and vaccinated dog is $55 instead of $140. Cats and Kittens are 2 for $75 instead of $100 dollars for one.
