The Onslow County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accidental shooting they say happened Saturday night.
Officials say it happened at 10 p.m. in the White Oak community on the east side of the county.
Deputies are in the early stages of the investigation, but the victim was a female who suffered an injury to her upper thigh.
The sheriff's office says another release is forthcoming when facts of the incident can be put together.
