It's one of the fastest growing counties in Eastern Carolina.
The latest census numbers show Onslow County's population has steadily increased over the past few years. It's grown more than 4% between 2010 and 2013.
'Coming Soon' and 'Now Hiring' signs are evidence of growth in the county.
Retired marine Kevin Foley first moved to Jacksonville 25 years ago when he was stationed at Camp Lejeune.
"I'm originally from Washington, D.C. so coming here and being stationed here was a culture shock I guess you could say," recalls Foley. "In many ways I thought I was stepping off the edge of the known universe."
Several restaurants, new hotels, and a medical center are going in on Western Boulevard in Jacksonville.
Armstrong Marine is expected to create 200 jobs in the county. It moved into the old Hatteras Yachts location in Swansboro and is making aluminum boats. We're told they hope to have a job fair April 18th.
According to census data, Dare, Carteret, and Pitt counties also saw significant growth between 2010 and 2013.
