Bond Set At $1-Million For Suspect Charged With Killing Father Of Four At Nightclub

Sherodnie Smith, the suspect charged with killing a father of four outside a Jacksonville nightclub, had his bond at at $1-million Monday.

Smith is charged with the murder of 37-year-old Tiaseer Rambert.

He was shot at the former Stratosphere nightclub on Gum Branch Road in Jacksonville In the early morning hours of September 1.

A death certificate says Rambert died from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.

Smith was arrested at the Triangle Motor Inn on Highway 17 September 9th.

A man accused of killing a father of four earlier this month went before a district court judge this morning.

Sherodnie Smith was arrested at the Triangle Motor Inn on Highway 17 early this morning.

Smith has been charged with the murder of 37-year-old Tiaseer Rambert. He was shot at the former Stratosphere nightclub on Gum Branch Road in the early morning hours of September 1.

A death certificate says Rambert died from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.

Smith told the judge this morning that he would be hiring his own attorney. His next court date is September 20th.

The search for a suspected murderer ended in Onslow County early Monday.

The Onslow County Sheriff's Office tells WITN's Alize Proisy that Sherodnie Smith was found at the Triangle Motor Inn on Highway 17 near the intersection of Highway 258.

Smith has been charged with the murder of 37-year-old Tiaseer Rambert. He was fatally shot at the former Stratosphere nightclub on Gum Branch Road in the early morning hours of September 1.

Smith is expected to make a first court appearance Monday morning.

Family members tell WITN 37-year-old Tiaseer Rambert was the man shot and killed around 3 Sunday morning at a former Onslow County nightclub.

Family members gathered at Rambert's home Monday, mourning together.

Rambert's mother, Betty Rambert, said her son was shot in the chest, concurring with the medical examiner's initial report.

She says, "I can't bring my son back. He's gone, and I'm just hurt about it. My heart is really broken, my heart is heavy and this took a toll over me.

Onslow County deputies said shots were fired at the former Stratosphere nightclub on Gum Branch Road Sunday morning. The nightclub was closed in December of 2012.

Sheriff Ed Brown says they have a warrant for an open count of murder for 25-year-old Sherodnie Smith, a man with outstanding warrants for parole violation.

Family members told WITN's Alize Proisy the aunt and uncle of the accused shooter are pleading with him to turn himself in, but the gunman remains in hiding.

Rambert's mom says, "I hope they get him in custody. I just want justice for my son's life, and his killer to come forth and give himself up."

Family members said the man is survived by his parents, wife, and four children.

According to previous reports, Rambert was shot on April 30th of 2012 on Elm Street in Jacksonville. Wilson police and Jacksonville police arrested Demetrius Elliott Jr. for that shooting days later. No motive for the shooting was ever released.

Rambert's funeral is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Deliverance Temple on Country Club Road in Jacksonville.

Deputies say they were assisted by the Highway Patrol, and the Jacksonville Police Department as they responded to the former Stratosphere nightclub at approximately 3:00 Sunday morning. They have not released the name of the victim or a motive for the shooting.
