It was a real mess on an Onslow County road Thursday afternoon after a cement truck overturned and started leaking about 3:30 p.m..
Trooper C.J. Matos says it happened on Ramsey Road, outside of Jacksonville. Three of the four lanes were shut down because of the crash for about an hour.
Matos says a pickup truck got into the left turn lane and realized he was going the wrong way and jerked back onto the road. That's when the cement truck rammed the pickup. It rolled over onto the hood of the pickup truck.
The trooper says there were no serious injuries. But the cement spilled out and was starting to dry in the hot sun. DOT crews cleaned up the mess and Highway Patrol says the road reopened about 4:30 p.m.
Brandon Carter of Beulaville, the pickup truck driver, has been charged with failure to yield right of way.
Two of three lanes were closed on a Jacksonville roadway, according to the NC DOT, after a concrete truck overturned.
An alert reported SR-1324, which is Ramsey Road, was blocked by an overturned concrete truck.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. The alert reported the road is expected to be clear by 6 p.m.
No word on what caused the crash or the driver's condition.
Motorists traveling west on the road should turn left onto Drummer Kellum to Highway 17. If coming from Gum Branch Road, continue on Gum Branch to Highway 17.
