A mom is heading to prison after admitting she poured scalding water on her 9-month-old daughter.
Michelle Woodhouse-Deboyes pleaded guilty this morning to intentional child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. She will have to serve at least 5 years, 10 months in prison where she will get psychiatric treatment.
The woman wiped away tears during the plea.
Woodhouse-Deboyes was arrested last year in Onslow County.
The baby spent 10 days in the Chapel Hill Burn Center with 12% of her body having 2nd degree burns. Authorities say she will have permanent scaring, but is doing well and being cared for by her father's grandparents.
