A Camp Lejeune Marine faces a serious charge this morning for a stabbing at a local movie theater.
Jacksonville Police say they've arrested 22-year-old Lance Corporal Walter Kirk for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.
It happened at the Carmike Theater on Western Boulevard around 11:15 Thursday night. Jacksonville police say a dispute inside the theater lead to the stabbing.
The arrest warrant identifies the victim as Justin Burns and says a 2- 1/2 inch pocket knife was used in the attack. New Hanover Regional Medical Center says Burns is listed in fair condition.
Kirk went before a judge this morning and his bond was set at $100,000 secured. The judge assigned William Morgan as his attorney and set the Marine's next court date for January 19th.
Kirk is with Company I, Headquarters and Support Battalion. He is an administrative specialist.
