A man who is accused of sex crimes involving girls between the ages of 8 and 12 has been brought back from New York to face charges.
Onslow County deputies say Kirk Macleod faces 23 different charges.
The investigation into the 39-year-old man began back in January when deputies say they received allegations of child sexual assault.
Deputies say victims disclosed multiple sexual assaults which occurred between January and December of last year when Macleod lived on Knight Place.
Investigators say after the man learned of the case, he packed up his personal belongings and fled to Syracuse. New York deputies arrested Mcleod and he was brought back to Onslow County to face charges.
Deputies have charged Mcleod with two counts of first degree sex offense with a child, two counts of felony child abuse-sexual act, two counts of crimes against nature, seven counts of indecent liberties with a child, five counts of sexual battery, and five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Macleod remains jailed without bond.
