While Veteran's Day isn't until next weekend, it's this weekend Jacksonville will put on it's Veteran's Day parade. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Plus the celebration got a special honor from the Department of Veterans affairs. Jacksonville is now designated as one of the 5 sites in the state for Veteran's Day ceremonies and parades. Getting that designation took some work with a push from the group Rolling Thunder.
"We want to make sure our veterans know that you know their sacrifices are not forgotten and people still remember them and this is just to honor them for their service to their country,"said Rolling Thunder member Ray Howe.
The parade in Jacksonville was scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
