Jacksonville Most Recession Proof City In U.S.

While the national economy continues to have problems, one city here in the east is standing firm-- even deemed the top recession proof place in the country.

The numbers tell the story: 7.5 percent increase in employment in two years and personal income up 21 and-a-half percent in the same time. It's all happening in Jacksonville and all thanks to the military.

These numbers are all from a recent study from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The website the daily beast used them to compile it's list of recession proof cities and put Jacksonville at the top.

Ft. Hood, Texas and Fayetteville NC were numbers two and three on the list.

This headline will bite us in the butt. Now every little or big chain will want to establish here and in so doing ruin the last little hidden escapes with in the city that are around. The newness will wear off and even the Marines will quit spending and they will pack up and go after any incentives they have received are worn out. Thanks itn

Yup, J-Ville will remain "recession proof" until Americans wake up and realize that one of the reasons our country's economy is in the toilet is due to the 3 wars we are in. Pull our troops out of Afganistan, Iraq and the air over Libya, cut DOD spending in half and then watch as Jacksonville becomes a ghost town. Think about it, besides businesses catering to Jar Heads, what else does J-Ville offer?

Geez, what a no brainer. Any city that is supported by virtually 100% by government military spending is bound to be recession proof. This will all change when the Tea bag group shuts off all government spending.

It still shows around here. The recession mentality is hard to stop when it gets rolling.
