Sheriff Ed Brown said the arrest of Robert Alexander over the weekend closes the case of a brutal Hubert home invasion.
On March 25th, investigators say five people burst into a home on Howell Road in Hubert with guns, corralled the family into one room and put a gun to the father's head. The sheriff previously stated the family's son William McComas, and his mother were beaten during the invasion. McComas made a slow recovery from the severe beating that left him in a coma for days.
First, deputies arrested Charles Winston and Brendon Dillon. Both men are 20 years old and live in Hubert. Nearly a month later, John Gillard III and Casey Adams, both of Hubert were in custody for the crime. Gillard and Adams were found in Coffee County, Alabama.
Finally, deputies got word that the fifth and final suspect in the violent home invasion was located in Pollocksville. Brown said his deputies worked alongside deputies in Jones County to serve a warrant at the residence, and arrested 30-year-old Robert Alexander of Jacksonville.
Alexander is scheduled to make his first appearance in an Onslow County court on Monday morning.
Sheriff Brown said the entire home invasion was a set up: the McComa's daughter's boyfriend at the heart of the crime.
