AAA named Jacksonville one of the safest cities in the state as far as traffic goes, but some drivers aren't so sure.

Some pedestrians trying to cross Marine or Western Boulevard in Jacksonville compare it to playing Frogger, but AAA says if it weren't for the help of law enforcement, it would be a lot worse.
They say last year Jacksonville had only two fatal crashes, and with more than 70,000 people living here that's pretty good. Some locals here say they still don't trust others behind the wheel.

"People do a lot of talking, texting on the phone, and ain't paying attention so I wouldn't be doing a lot of walking," said Jacksonville driver Kentor Jones.

Cities were also rated by the amount of proactive measures police take to prevent accidents. Jacksonville has an entire traffic division with several different safety programs including some for teens, pedestrians, and bikers.

According to AAA, Jacksonville also rated high because compared to most other cities in the state it has the most law enforcement per capita. New Bern was also named a traffic safe community.
