An Onslow County insurance agent is facing charges after officials say he embezzled tens of thousands of dollars from his company.
Peirson Lane, age 44 of Sabiston Drive in Swansboro, was arrested.
According to a news release, North Carolina Department of Insurance investigators allege that between May 2008 and October 2011, Lane deposited approximately $35,000 of company money into his personal account while employed as an agent with John Hackney Insurance Agency in Swansboro.
Lane is charged with four counts each of embezzlement by an insurance agent, embezzlement, and obtaining property by false pretense.
Lane was arrested December 16 in Onslow County and was locked up under a $220,000 secured bond.
