Talk about a new golfing hazard -- a Jacksonville man and his friends encountered an alligator on the fourth hole this past weekend.
It happened Saturday at the North Shore Country Club in Sneads Ferry. Actually, gators at North Shore are often spotted on the golf course since it's adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway.
Joe Kuczero says the gator was about 4-1/2 feet long and first spotted it from the tee. They drove their golf cart closer to get the picture. Kuczero says they've seen two gators living in a nearby pond, so it might not be a good idea wading in to retrieve your lost golf ball.
North Shore says they see all sizes of alligators and they've never been a threat.
