Former Camp Lejeune Marine Found Guilty In Fatal Crash

A former Camp Lejeune Marine has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter charges and other traffic violations for a crash that killed a woman nearly two-years ago.

Garrett Weaver, who was a Lance Corporal at the time of the crash in July of 2011, but has since been given a medical discharge, was found guilty Thursday in Onslow County Court.

Myrna Gabriel-Parks of Jacksonville died in the crash at Bell Fork Road and Hargett Street.

Weaver was sentenced to 16 to 20 months in prison and ordered to pay 14-thousand dollars in restitution.
