A Georgia truck driver was cited after his big rig flipped over in Jacksonville Wednesday morning, spilling a load of plywood alongside the highway.
It happened on North Marine Boulevard at the U.S. 17 Bypass just before 11:00 a.m.
The truck from CT Transportation of Savannah, Georgia dumped the plywood onto the road's shoulder. Police say the truck was making a turn from North Marine Boulevard onto the bypass when the load likely shifted.
Crews got the truck back on its wheels and then worked to remove the plywood.
Police say a company from Wilmington arrived on scene to clean the soil that was contaminated by diesel fuel.
Traffic in the area had to be detoured for several hours. The road reopened around 5:45 p.m.
Japonica Brooks, 30, of Savannah was charged with failure to secure a load. He was not hurt in the accident.
