A Marine who died while helping wounded comrades while under attack will be honored Tuesday.
The Marine Corps said 27-year-old Gunnery Sgt. Daniel Price, who was killed during his 2012 deployment to Afghanistan, will be awarded the Silver Star Medal.
Price was with the 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion of the Marine Corps Forces Special Command.
Members of the Marine Corps will be heading to Price's hometown of Holland, Michigan to present the Silver Star Medal for Valor to his family.
Price was working with a Special Operations Task Force when his group was engaged by insurgent personnel.
Price died alongside Special Operations Marine Gunnery Sgt. Johnathan Gifford. Price was serving out of Camp Pendleton and Gifford was serving out of Camp Lejeune.
The award will be presented to Price's family 1 p.m. Tuesday in Holland, Michigan.
