A more environmentally friendly community will open up to residents aboard Camp Lejeune Thursday morning.
The Atlantic Marine Corps Communities has 136 three to four bedroom duplexes and single family homes are in the works . The official ribbon cutting is scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 3pm.
The homes are constructed to provide lower utility costs with the use of energy and water efficient appliances.
Completion of the community is expected in the fall of 2012, but new residents will be able to move into a new Watkins Grove home over the next several months as construction continues to progress through the community.
