NEW INFO: Blockbuster Confirms Locations In Greenville, Kinston Closing

Blockbuster confirms that it will close two of its stores here in Eastern Carolina. The company says it will shut down approximately 300 locations nationwide.

A Blockbuster spokeswoman at their Colorado headquarters says the Kinston location on West Vernon Avenue will close in April, while the store on Charles Boulevard in Greenville will shut down in May.

Stephanie Kopet says some of the affected stores are reaching the end of their leases and others are closing based on their overall performance.

Dish Network, which owns the video rental chain, says the closures will leave about 500 Blockbuster locations left in the U.S.
