Onslow County School officials say Dixon High School was on a brief lockdown early Tuesday morning after several parents who were dropping off students at school reported seeing a suspicious male walking nearby.
Vikki Childress, the school principal, immediately ordered all students inside the building and called for the school to be locked down while the school resource officer and others looked into the situation and searched school grounds.
No one fitting the description of the suspicious male was seen by any school officials.
As soon as their investigation was complete and it was determined there was no threat to students, the school was taken off lockdown and school is progressing as normal.
An Alert Message was sent out to parents to inform them of the circumstances of the lockdown and let them know there was no threat.
School officials tell WITN the person seen near the school was carrying a bag with something inside of it and was just walking back and forth, which made parents suspicious. No weapon was ever seen.
