Deputy Attacked After Pot Found In Home

A deputy sheriff was assaulted after going to a home to investigate a neighborhood domestic case involving two young children.

Onslow County Deputy James Lyons says he was attacked when he went to the home of one of the children Sunday evening. Deputies say when Nygee Hall-Garner opened the door of the home on Delight Drive, a strong odor of marijuana flowed out of the door. The man told the deputy he was only a friend of the babysitter and everything seemed normal until the lawman noticed marijuana inside the home.

Deputies say that's when Hall-Garner "became a wild raging person" and threw the deputy on the couch. They say the deputy was then picked up off the couch and carried outside by Hall-Garner. Deputy Lyons asked for backup, and even with extra officers, they say Hall-Garner continued to resist and fight the officers.

He was eventually arrested and charged with assault on a government official, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hall-Garner's bond was set at $14,000.

The police were not on the scene to award the person a good neighbor certificate. If you are so concerned about his welfare, you might try talking some sense to them before the need for law enforcement is needed. Tazers are non-lethal methods to control violent people.Try being a better freind or realative.

Those of you who complaint about marijuana being illegal in NC can feel free to move to a state where it is legal. Otherwise get over it. If you live here obey the laws here.

I cannot understand why and how all of the below comments can be made when everyone makes a mistake. FTR no where in the article it stated he was an animal (for the zoo comment) nor that he is a criminal with previous history, nor did it say he was a trouble maker or the marijuana was his. He assulted an officer yes however what provoked this child (yes I said child because he is to someone) to assult this officer after inviting him into the home. Before you cast judgments you should think and learn about the situation because most if not all of the below comments are ignorant and racist. So if you want to look at the facts that is relevant is that a young man assulted an officer. His race has nothing to do with anything because there is just as nuch whites, asians, hispanics, etc in jail as blacke. That is the problem with today's society always prejudging someone because of how they look on the outside.

You can see his "I'm Bad" attitude from down the street....he would've never gotten the opportunity to jump on me with S&W by my side.

The LEO population has a hard job. There is a part of me that would like to be involved in that occupation, but in this situation I would probably shoot first - then call for back up. ----- Better stick to my other job.
