More Charges Brought In Deadly Jacksonville Motorcycle-Car Crash

More charges have been brought against a Jacksonville man who police say killed another man in a vehicle crash Monday.

Michael Jones is now charged with felony death by vehicle and felony serious injury by vehicle.

The 8:20 p.m. Crash on Highway 17 and Barden Street killed Matthew McClain of Onslow Pines Road. A passenger on the motorcycle, Katherine Collins, was seriously injured and sent to Vidant Medical Center where she's now in fair condition.

The 32-year-old Jones was originally charged with DWI and a safe movement violation.

He is jailed on a $75,000 bond.

Michael Jones, 32, of Western Blvd. in Jacksonville is charged with DWI and a Safe Movement Violation Causing Serious Injury to a Motorcyclist.

Police say Jones didn't stop for a motorcycle in the intersection of Highway 17 and Barden St. around 8:20 p.m. Monday. The motorcycle driver, 21-year-old Matthew McClain, was killed. His passenger, 21-year-old Katherine Collins, was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Police say she is in fair condition.

Jones was not injured.
