DEPUTIES: Students Phone In Bomb Threat To Get Out Of Class

Two high school students have been charged with making a false bomb threat to get out of class.

Onslow County deputies have charged Devonte Ledbetter and Manual Majia, both of Jacksonville, with making a false bomb threat and felony conspiracy.

Deputies say the bomb threat was phoned in around 10:10 a.m. last Thursday to White Oak High School, saying the bomb would go off at 11:00 a.m. Students were evacuated from the buildings and lawmen and school personnel searched for any sign of explosives.

One of the two students arrested told deputies the threat was made because he didn't want to go to his third period class.

Majia was released to his mother, while Ledbetter was let out of jail on a $7,500 bond.

Sounds like a few people are in a hurry to make racist comments and are disappointed. Your turn will come.

Actually, I'm white and don't care to make racist comments. I would like someone to explain to me why we can comment on this, but not the idiot who had a loaded 357 and major drugs at school.

Lets just skip the low level crimes and go on and lock these 2 idiots up. This happened at our school a few years ago. My kid got sick from standing out in freezing rain so 4 guys could get a chick out of school to party. Let other kids learn and just go on and quit!

While these two kids were trying to get out of class playing a joke it could have created a worse problem someone may of actually had an Emergency and needed the folks that were to busy chasing a prank!!! Charge them for the time and EQUIPMENT fees and the expenses of the man power involved with their prank!!

it's just a shame they will get a slap on the hand and a that poor boy treatment if you tighten the vise on them maybe others will learn its not a joke anymore!!

It's AMAZING we can comment on this, but not on the loser who brought a loaded gun and had drugs at school. I guess he was too much of an upstanding citizen to be picked apart like these two young men.

You'll probably be able to comment on the story eventually. It has to be approved for commenting (I think), but it SHOULD be because there are no sexual overtones.

Great point. So, WITN, what's up with this? Just what is your criteria for selective reporting? How do you choose those that you protect versus those that dangle out there for the wolves?

Wow, WITN....No answer? No reason given? I sense a double standard here....and it has nothing to do with race this time.

Place a bond on one and not the other? Teens do stupid things if you think about it most people that get in trouble with the law are between 15 and 25 for a first affiance. these boy just did not think about the consequence just the fact of getting out of class.
