Police said a Wednesday afternoon crash sent one driver, two passengers, and a Jacksonville police officer to the hospital.
Spokeswoman Beth Purcell told WITN the wreck happened around 1:50 p.m. Wednesday on Western Boulevard Extension at Jacksonville Parkway in the city.
Officers said the patrol car was heading West in the left-turn lane on Western Extension. As the officer tried making a left turn under a yellow flashing light, Purcell said that put his patrol car in the path of a 2013 Hyundai, which was heading East.
The Hyundai hit the right side of the patrol car, which police said caused the patrol car to hit a highway sign.
All four involved, including the officer, were all taken to the hospital where they were treated and later released.
The division does a review and all city vehicle crashes go before the city's Accident Review Committee, according to Purcell.
The crash is under investigation.
