An investigator said while there are no charges as of yet in a fatal wreck aboard Camp Lejeune, some could be brought at a later date.
Camp Lejeune officials said on Wednesday, July 18th, 33-year-old Petty Officer 3rd Class Christopher Harris was riding his bike on Highway 172 at the Hammocks Bay Road intersection aboard Lejeune. A spokesman said at 6:10 a.m., the corpsman was struck by a vehicle.
On Thursday, Ed Buice with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service said, "Charges could be filed later, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation."
A Navy corpsman killed after the military says he was hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle on Camp Lejeune has been identified as 33-year-old Petty Officer 3rd Class Christopher Harris of Florida.
The base says the sailor was killed around 6:10 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 172 at the Hammocks Bay Road intersection.
Camp Lejeune says the accident remains under investigation and the name of the corpsman has not yet been released.
