Camp Lejeune Water Lawsuit

A former Marine has filed a $16 million lawsuit against the federal government, claiming that contaminated water at Camp Lejeune caused him to contract a rare form of breast cancer.

Joel Shriberg of Pinehurst said in Friday's lawsuit that he was diagnosed with the cancer in 2004, which has since spread to his lungs.

Shriberg was stationed at Camp Lejeune from 1957 to 1959.

Wells at the base were contaminated by fuel leaks and other sources of pollution before being closed two decades ago. Health officials think as many as 1 million people may have been exposed to tainted water.

Other former residents have filed lawsuits and disability claims related to the pollution.

The Marine Corps could not be reached immediately Monday morning.

Most of my family is dead. They did live in TT back in the early 70's late 80's. I was told the H20 was to blame.

Average people, most Marines and civilian DOD employees have no idea of what really goes on behind the scenes. Am very concerned about what I know about this and numerous other things I have personally witnessed on Camp Lejeune and other installations over the past 50 years.

The proof you are asking about can be found in the documents that were forced out from the rock they were hidden under by The Freedom Of Information's Act.Perhaps if you would spend less time on the computer and more time studying the facts, you might not sound so ignorant!

Really? The contamination has been noted by the Department of Defense and the Marine Corps. However your extremely poor sentence structure and grammar clearly reflects your intelligence level. Given this level we can see why you have no idea what you are talking about.

The Marine Corps and DOD has already recognized the contamination. Why is this in the headlines? His male breast cancer wouldn't have anything to do with his lifestyle choices 2? years back could it? Everyone is looking for the big easy monies without risk of the "lottery" odds.
