The main gate at Camp Lejeune is open to traffic after a weekend of repairs.
The Provost Marshal's Office says the gate opened Sunday evening.
Crews were scheduled to work on the gate two weeks ago, but wet weather delayed the project.
Work on Camp Lejeune's main gate has been delayed by the recent wet weather, and the gate will remain closed again this weekend.
Because the rain hampered scheduled paving operations at the base's main gate entrance last weekend, the gate must be closed again to complete necessary paving work and striping.
The entrance is scheduled to close Friday at 9 p.m. and reopen Monday at 4:30 a.m.
The Piney Green gate further east on Highway 24 will be open around the clock this weekend to facilitate in and outbound traffic. Detour signs, barricades and military police will be in place to guide traffic as necessary.
