A ban on burning that's been in effect for most of the summer is finally being lifted.
The North Carolina Forest Service says the ban for Beaufort, Bladen, Brunswick, Carteret, Columbus, Craven, Cumberland, Dare, Duplin, Hyde, Jones, New Hanover, Onslow, Pamlico, Pender, Robeson, Sampson, Tyrrell and Washington counties will be lifted at 5:00 p.m. Monday.
The ban began back on June 22nd for much of Eastern Carolina because of severe drought conditions and two major wildfires burning in the area. But recent rains prompted foresters to lift the ban.
Burning permits are once again being issues for residents of those counties who need to burn on their property.
