The water consumers of ONWASA in Onslow County may experience periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system due to ONWASA crews making emergency repairs to a waterline on Thomas Humphry Rd. on April 12, 2013.
Those who are affected are consumers on Thomas Humphry Road and all of Oakwood Subdivision.
Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.
The Division of Water Resources advises that as the water is restored, the affected consumers on Thomas Humphry Rd. and in Oakwood Subdivision should boil all water used for human consumption including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes or food preparation or use bottled water.
It is not necessary to boil water for showering or bathing.
Vigorous boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.
This office is strongly urging the water consumers to conserve water whenever possible. The advisory will remain in effect from the time water is restored on April 12, 2013 until further written notification is issued.
