A body shop here in Eastern Carolina has agreed to pay back wages to employees after a U.S. Department of Labor investigation.
The feds say Brynn Marr Body Shop of Jacksonville will pay $19,174 to 15 workers after violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act were found.
The Labor Department says it found the body shop improperly classified employees as exempt from overtime and was paying them straight-time rates for hours worked over 40 hours, instead of time and a half.
A news release says the body shop has agreed to not only pay the back wages, but to also fully comply with overtime rules in the future.
