NEW INFO: Second Shooting Suspect Turns Himself In

A second man has been arrested for a pre-Christmas shooting that happened in Onslow County.

Brandon Bannerman of Maple Hill is being held on a $750,000 bond on charges of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

The shooting happened last Thursday on Blue Creek Road, outside of Jacksonville. That's when deputies say 36-year-old Lamont Lee was shot three times.

Late that same day Jejuan James turned himself into authorities.

Jejuan James, the suspect accused of shooting a man three times in Onslow County Thursday, had his first court appearance Friday.

He is charged with attempted first degree murder and firing into a moving vehicle, and he is locked up under a $575,000 secured bond.

His next court date was set for January.

The man James is accused of shooting, Lamont Lee, is expected to recover.

Onslow County authorities say a man accused of shooting another man three times Thursday morning has turned himself in.

Investigators say an exchange of gunfire happened at the intersection of Blue Creek Rd. and Raynor Ave. During that exchange 36-year-old Lamont Lee was shot. As of early Thursday afternoon, lawmen said Lee was alert and talking with family at the hospital.

Officials say 31-year-old Jejuan James, also of Onslow County, turned himself in late Thursday afternoon.

Major Frank Terwilliger with the Onslow County Sheriff's office says he’s spoken to one of the suspects by cell phone and that suspect says they will contact his attorney and plans to come in later Thursday. Lawmen say the grandmother of the second suspect is going to talk to him and recommend he turn himself in. It's unclear which suspect is James.

Law enforcement officers are looking for a white Cadillac that may have bullet holes from the gunfire exchange.

New Hanover County Hospital tells officials Lee is alert and talking with family.

During the shooting, an innocent motorist's vehicle was struck by a stray projectile. No one was injured.

The North Carolina Department of Correction has a 36-year-old Lamont Lee listed with convictions in Onslow County.

The website shows Lee has a criminal history dating back to 1995 and that he was released from prison in June after serving about five years.

Convictions for Lee listed on the DOC website include: habitual felon, possessing stolen goods, stolen vehicle, felony B&E, reckless driving, speeding, speeding to elude arrest, drugs, common law robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and probation revocation.

Law enforcement officers are on the scene of a shooting at the Three Bridges Estates mobile home community in Onslow County.

The community is on Blue Creek Road.

Deputies say there was a fight at 8:30 a.m. that led to 36-year-old Lamont Lee being shot. We're told the victim was shot three times and was airlifted to the hospital in New Hanover County.

Officials say 31-year-old Jawan James, also of Onslow County, is a person of interest in the investigation.

Reports indicate deputies are searching for a white vehicle, possibly a Cadillac, with gunshots to the windows.
