Drive-Through Tube Fills With Smoke, Bank Evacuated

Smoke filled up a drive through window tube at a local bank, forcing a precautionary evacuation.

Fire Chief Bob Penrod with the Swansboro Fire Department tells WITN it was a likely a small motor in a drive-through tube that prompted a precautionary evacuation of a local credit union.

The Marine Federal Credit Union on West Corbett Avenue in Swansboro was evacuated shortly after one of their drive-thorough tubes filled up with smoke at 9:32 Monday morning.

That lane of the drive-through will be closed until credit union maintenance crews can fix it. The bank was operational within 45 minutes.
