There's an early Christmas present for those looking for work in one Eastern Carolina county: a company is coming with 200 new jobs.
Armstrong Marine, Inc. will set up a welded aluminum boat manufacturing operation in the old Hatteras Yachts location near Swansboro. It plans to invest more than $8.4 million at the new plant.
Onslow County commissioners and the Jacksonville Onslow Economic Development office made the announcement.
Armstrong, which makes welded aluminum boats, fire boats, dive boats, pilot boats, research vessels, interceptors, and riverine craft, is headquartered in Port Angeles, Washington.
The average pay for the jobs will be $31,420 plus benefits.
Hatteras Yachts closed its Swansboro operation in 2008, moving those 200 jobs to New Bern.
