Anti-Abortion Protesters Set Up Near Jacksonville Clinic

A doctor's office in the east that's been the target of protesters in the past is finding itself in familiar territory.

A 40 day around the clock anti-abortion campaign kicked off Tuesday night in Jacksonville across the street from the Crist Clinic for Women. Organizers say it's a campaign of love-- others say it's another protest.

Organizer Elizabeth Delong says they plan 40 days of prayer and fasting. She says the idea is to have someone on the curb directly across the street from the Crist Clinic for Women 24/7 for the next 40 days. "We're praying for his business-- and we're praying for the portion of this business that's abortion,to close."

Protesters- silent or prayerful- don't surprise Doctor Takey Crist. Dr. Crist says, "We've been labeled by this group as an abortion clinic. I would say the majority of the patients that come here make appointments for pap smears."

Police say their only concern is public safety.

Delong says, "We're here to bring healing to our city. We're there to pray-- we're there to love the clients."

Dr. Takey Crist says, "That's freedom of speech. But they're not gonna turn anybody around."

There is so much evil in the world. Its quite sad reading a lot of these comments. A lot of angry people. If you look at a pro-life group and a pro-choice group. Which ones are noisy? which ones have a goal that is not selfish, promotes hope, give alternatives, offers support, and wants to protect a life, a baby, a mother , a father, a family, a community. Think about! not sure? go and see for yourself.

Some of you pro-abort,anti-lifers are seriously lame with your comments. Even a FIRST-grader would agree that God is NOT ok with KILLING an innocent unborn human life. Dang, some of you actually gave birth, but you simply refuse to admit the truth that KILLING your unborn child is bad. Sounds like some profound pent-up anger. It's so sad that there is a beautiful 5yr.old out there who(hopefully never)may have to stand by while mommy does not allow that little girl's baby brother or sister ever live to see the light of day. THANK GOD ALMIGHTY for Pro-Lifers!

If ANY woman or man for that matter starts to smack her infant in front of me, you better BELIEVE I will make them STOP. It IS my business, when there is ABUSE OF AN INNOCENT LIFE. But I cannot speak for the COWARDS on this post, ESPECIALLY the COWARDS that have OPINIONS of KILLING innocent unborn HUMAN LIFE. Rather than rely on your 'feelings,' why not educate yourself and learn that most people DO kill their unborn babies as birth control. To choose to kill your unborn baby is a BAD choice. What is so wrong with truly educating yourself and choosing to SAVE not KILL your unborn child?

What a women choice is, is her business. Opinions are a dime a dozen. If you are not put in that persons shoes its not your business. For the most part I feel that most people do not use abortion for birth control. People are educated on the serious precautions and side effects of abortions-They are dangerous! It should be up to the women and how she wants to preceed with the situation. There are too many people that want to step in and make comments and take action when they probally should look at themselves more closely and there family members!

Here's a catch 22 issue right here. My personal feelings on this are mixed. If a woman is a victim of rape, incest, or her life is in danger, yes absolutly, but to use abortion as a method of birth control, no, I think that's wrong. I just wonder why most of the pro-lifers also support the death penalty, deep thought huh?

This is EXACLTY what makes me feel so unsure about what I beleive in. I am very thankful that if I ever choose to have an abortion, that the option is there. I have a beautiful 5 year old daughter who I wouldn't trade anything in the world for and would probably never have an abortion...but that option is there and I thank GOD for being able to have the ability to choose what I want done to my own body.

Instead of causing problems for something that is LEGAL, why not volunteer at a local homeless shelter, do something kind for the elderly, pick up trash on the side of the road, mentor at risk children, etc... Do something to make the community a better place instead of harassing law abiding citizens.

It's amazing all the rhetoric pro lifers spew, but after the birth of all these babies they're no where to be found to pay for these kids once born!! I wish we could have a ballot for this issue once and for all!! Folks voting pro life being responsible i.e. pay for these kids until grown!! You want them born, but don't want to pay for all the associated costs that go with them!! Put your money where your mouth is!! Most want to cut services for these kids too!! Talking out of both sides of your mouth!! Keep the kids but let somebody else pay for them!!

No, we want people to take responsibility for their own actions and we don't want babies murdered because Liberals view them as "cancer" or whatever. "I don't fault people for their mistakes, but I do ask that they live with them." What you guys keep saying is that you want other people to pay for their mistakes, which is inherently wrong. I mean really, if a human can't even control their own breeding how are they any better than an animal? We spay and neuter pets, do we now need to look at it for humans too irresponsible to breed? Of course not, but people do need to act responsibly or pay the price. That is what justice is, social or otherwise.

I am by no means liberal, but i have to say that by definition, until a fetus is able to sustain itself without mothers body, "Cancer" is exactly what it is...callous? yes. True? even more so! People came over from england, france, ireland, germany, spain, etc. to this country several hundred years ago because of people like you. Shoving YOUR views and OPINIONS on others...Quit putting yourself on such a high pedestal and get off your high horse. A woman feels that she needs to have an abortion...let her. If you dislike this decision, don't associate with her. But to act like everything you do is ok in the collective eyes of society is preposterous at best. Look in the mirror, listen to yourself, and realize that you are wrong in the idea that you can tell others how they should live their lives!
